How to Connect WhatsApp Cloud API to Fiko

Step by step
Follow these steps in order

Create or log into Meta Business
Go to business.facebook.com. Sign in with your Facebook account. If you don't have a Business account, create one — it's free.

Add WhatsApp Business Account
In Meta Business: All tools → WhatsApp Manager. Click 'Get started' to add a WhatsApp Business Account (WABA). Fill in your business name, country, and category.

Add and verify a phone number
Add a phone number to your WABA. The number must not be active on personal WhatsApp recently. Verify via SMS or voice call.

Complete Meta Business Verification
For higher messaging limits, complete Business Verification: upload business registration, address proof, and identity documents. Takes 1-3 business days.

Open Fiko Channels page
In Fiko dashboard: Channels → WhatsApp → Connect. Follow the embedded signup flow that authorizes Fiko within your Meta Business.

Select your WABA and phone number
During the embedded signup, choose the WhatsApp Business Account and phone number you created. Click Continue.

Verify connection in Fiko
Back in Fiko, your WhatsApp will show as Connected. Test by sending a message from another WhatsApp account to your business number.

(Optional) Create your first template
Templates → New. Create a marketing or utility template. Submit for Meta review — approval takes 24-48 hours. Once approved, you can send it via campaigns or workflows.

Common questions
Meta requires more verification for WhatsApp because of stricter anti-spam policies. The 1-time setup is more involved, but once done, everything works seamlessly.
No. A phone number can only be active on one of these at a time. If you're already using Business App, you must transition (Meta has a 'migrate' option in the API).
