WhatsApp Business API is the programmatic version of WhatsApp for businesses sending high volumes of messages. It's different from the WhatsApp Business App (a free phone app for small businesses). The API has two hosting modes: on-premise (deprecated, complex setup) and Cloud API (hosted by Meta, recommended). Fiko uses WhatsApp Cloud API. Key constraints: businesses can only send templates outside the 24-hour customer messaging window, and templates require pre-approval from Meta.
